Innovating Responsibly
Responsible AI for deeply human care.
Cognitai is designed to strengthen clinical thinking, continuity, and personalization without replacing the judgment, responsibility, or human connection at the centre of mental healthcare.
The clinician decides. Technology supports.
Technology should strengthen care, not take control of it.
Artificial intelligence can help clinicians organize complex information, preserve meaningful context across time, and remain better oriented to each client's experience.
But technical capability alone does not justify use.
Cognitai is built around clinician control, human review, traceable and reviewable outputs, visible uncertainty, and responsible restraint.
- Clinician-controlled
- The clinician remains the decision-maker, interpreter, accountable professional, and reviewer of every output.
- Traceable and reviewable
- Clinicians should be able to understand what information contributed to an output and review it before relying on it.
- Human judgment remains central
- Generated material supports clinical thinking. It does not replace professional judgment or the therapeutic relationship.
- Responsible restraint
- Just because something can be automated does not mean it should be.
Clear boundaries are part of responsible design.
Cognitai supports clinical judgment. It does not diagnose, independently make treatment decisions, replace the clinician, or operate as an autonomous care provider.
Cognitai is not intended for crisis or emergency use and must not be presented as automatically detecting, predicting, or managing clinical risk.
Cognitai Responsible Innovation Lab
Making our principles visible.
The Cognitai Responsible Innovation Lab is a public initiative through which Cognitai examines and articulates its principles for the responsible design and use of technology in mental healthcare.
Its first publication is the Manifesto for Responsible Innovation in Mental Healthcare.
